I see mineral makeup advertised a lot these days, but I usually prefer a liquid foundation if I do wear makeup.
Has anyone here recently tried mineral makeup and if so, how did you find it in terms of how it blends, how it lasts? Would you say it's better than liquid? Worse? Worth trying?Mineral makeup vs liquid foundation?
I was the same as you- liquid all the way.
I then tried bare minerals and hated it! It caked on my face, didn't have a good selection of colours and just felt dry.
So i went back to using liquid foundation.
I have sensitive skin though, so I was really wanting to find a good mineral foundation due to irritations or breakouts from certain liquid foundations (mac in particular!!!! Grrr)
So yeah, after a wee bit of research I came across the brand lily lolo
(It's a UK brand)
And it's fantastic :)
I find, when it is applied correctly- it covers well, it gives me the same coverage as liquid foundation (and it's buildable without becoming cakey), it doesn't irritate my skin- in fact it has been looking better and it seems to give my face a fresh glow.
However, I stick to my cream concealers, I don't like mineral concealers.
But the foundation and blush is just great.
I still use liquid foundation at certain times, like in the winter when my skin is a bit drier than normal.
Or if i'm going out clubbing or to some event where lots of drinking and dancing will be taking place- i somehow trust liquid to stay longer through that.
However, yesterday i was wearing mineral makeup the whole day (with no touch ups) and it was still there 12 hours later.
So i guess if you have dry skin- stick to liquid, otherwise try out the mineral makeup (just not bare minerals)Mineral makeup vs liquid foundation?
It's not really about one being better than the other in and of it's self, it's about what's best for -your- skin.
As an artist, I prefer to work with liquid, especially now that the technology in liquid make ups are advancing quite a lot because of HD tv. When applied correctly, liquid foundations can look very flush with the skin instead of looking like something sitting on top of the skin, which tends to be the case with a powder foundation, but in the end, it's really about making sure that your makeup suits your skin.
I've worked with some of the best mineral makeups on the market, Bare Minerals, Philosophy, Cover FX... and they're great if you have extremely sensitive skin, or if you're concerned with natural makeup.
However, if coverage is a major concern for you, or if the texture of your skin is a concern (acne scaring, cystic acne, large pores, fine lines, wrinkles) a mineral or powder foundation is not going work as well for you.
Edit- also, I should mention, that if you'd like the best of BOTH worlds, there are several -liquid- mineral makeups on the market now. Dior's new Nude foundations are gorgeous, smooth and practically invisible on skin. Tarte makes two liquid mineral foundations as well.
Liquid makeup clogs your pores more while mineral makeup is much healthier for your skin. And considering most woman apply makeup everyday, it's usually better to find a healthier solution to better take care of your skin. I use bare minerals and I absolutely love it. I have used it for 3 years now and I get endless compliments on how beautiful my skin looks. My skin stays healthy looking, soft and feels very natural while makeup is applied. Bare minerals is the best thing I have come across for my face, you should try it, works wonders!
I wear it over my liquid foundation, and that helps keep my face from looking oily and it helps even out my skin tone even more. (I use physicians formula talc free powder over clinique almost makeup foundation) And it's a great combo for me. But if I use that powder alone it won't last long (about 3 hours). If I use powder and foundation it will last about 7-8 hours. Of coarse if you don't need foundation but you're skin just needs something to absorb oil I would recommend the powder even if it might need re-applying during the day. If you need foundation to cover up redness and stuff I still would recommend the powder so the foundation will last longer.
I like both of them, but I would imagine that power might look a little more fresh, lightweight, and not so pore-clogging, but it really depends on what you use. I am currently using Maybelline Mineral Power, and it is excellent. Blends well, and great coverage. However, I am soon going to buy Almay SmartShade makeup. This will be my first liquid foundation
I will let you know how it turns out!
Hope this helped!

I prefer liquid over minerals. Mineral makeup is good for people who have little to no scars on their face...nearly flawless faces. Mineral makeup is light coverage...it doesn't do me justice and I prefer medium to full coverage. I use to use bare minerals and everyday minerals and i really don't like coverage. Bare minerals actually broke me out! But I do prefer everyday mineral blushes. Love them!
they basically last the same amount of time but you need a primer for mineral foundation to make it look smoother and last longer. mineral foundation is lighter coverage and it blends pretty well if you use a good brush. its better for wearing in the summer because its lighter and feels a lot less heavy on your skin. it doesnt cover all imperfections though becasue its lighter. its worth trying especially now in the summer season. and a pro of it over liquid is that it doesnt clog pores so it doent make you break out, i even would sometimes fall asleep in it and never got a pimple while using it! so yeah :)
I used to use liquid make up but I tried bare minerals about three months ago. I love it. It doesn't clog my pores, goes on evenly, and I wear a lot less make up. It seems pricey at first but one of those containers lasts me months. It is worth it. If you try it, I think you will love it.
mineral make ups are good but i find it hard to blend. If you really wanna stick with liquid foundation, you can try buying mineral make up in liquid foundie type. i have one and it;s niceand easy to use. Cares for my skin. doesnt clog pores.
hi, i think a bit of both, but not thick i think the liquid foundation keeps it lasting but you need a thin one and i put the mineral powder foundation over the top! it covers evenly and dose not make your skin look oily!
use both.
put liquid foundation first. this helps to cover out scars, marks, etc. and make your face look flawless.
then put hte mineral powder on top, to give a ';done'; look.
thats the best way from my experience.
I use both. I like both. No I don't think it is better than liquid. I really like liquid better because it covers more. But everyone is different. It think you should try it out. Hope this helps.
I find that they last about the same length of time, but the minerals look smoother and less oily.
